James Elmer Bennett
James Elmer Bennett, 94, passed away Wednesday at his home in Harrisville with his loving caregiver of eight months, Gail Crawford, by his side.
His wife of 75 years, Amelda “Spud” Keister Bennett, preceded him in death in January.
Born April 6, 1921, in Mercer County, he was a son of Frank A. and Bernice Book Bennett.
Jim worked in the maintenance department at the underground mines for many years. His love was working with wood. He owned and operated a sawmill and created many wooden items to delight family and friends.
He was an active member of the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church. A caring and generous man, Jim was a member of the Harrisville Lions Club.
Surviving are three sons, Robert (Delores) and John (Maggie) of Harrisville and James (Susan) of Grove City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Edith Breese of Grove City and Edna Mae Wade of Arizona.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
BENNETT — Friends of James Elmer Bennett, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N.
