A Chicago doctor charged with killing a motorcyclist in a hit-and-run accident has committed suicide in the Pennsylvania jail where he was being held, officials said Sunday.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office confirmed the death of 33-year-old Shiva Lal Acharya. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday. No details were immediately available.

The doctor killed himself about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Acharya's nephew, Ramesh Lamichhane of Harrisburg told the Post-Gazette.

Police say Acharya was driving Sept. 4 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when he lost control of his car, hitting 46-year-old motorcyclist Keith Brown of Green Bay, Wis.

Two art students were charged with a yearlong graffiti spree that police say caused more than $94,000 in property damage throughout the city.Bryan Stafford and Terrell Crawford, both 19 and students at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, vandalized mailboxes, buildings, garage doors, businesses, roofs and railroad property, police said Saturday.The spree ended after Crawford wrote his alias on a store shelf from which they allegedly stole a pen, said Detective Frank Rende, a member of the city graffiti task force.Police said the two confessed and were arrested Friday. They were being held in the Allegheny County Jail on two felony counts.
