BlueSox bested by Aviators, 7-1
Lafayette pitchers Nolan Schoonveld and Cameron Anfang limited the Butler BlueSox to just four hits in the Aviators’ 7-1 Prospect League baseball victory at Kelly Automotive Park Thursday night.
Schoonveld started and pitched six innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits.
Butler’s one tally in the game came in the bottom of the fourth frame when Evan Webb’s sacrifice fly plated Jeff Wehler. The run cut Butler’s deficit to 2-1, but Lafayette (20-33) scored five runs over the next two innings.
Webb managed two of Butler’s four hits. Wehler and Dominick Bucko also singled.
Butler starting pitcher Chad Coles lasted five innings and was charged with five runs on six hits. Travis Holman followed on the mound and was tagged for another two runs (one earned) in two innings.
The BlueSox (21-31) begin a two-game series at home against East Division-leading Kokomo on Friday.
