William James Miller
William James "Bill" Miller, 82, died Saturday in Hilton Head, S.C.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pierce Miller; a daughter, Melanie M. Pracht and her husband, Matt, of Laurinburg, N.C.; and a grandson, Mark Pracht of Laurinburg.
Born Aug. 5, 1926, in Butler, he was a son of the late William O. and Alice Brewster Miller.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Later he graduated from Slippery Rock College and received his master's from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a retired teacher from the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
He worked with the George I. Green Funeral Home after his retirement.
Bill was a former volunteer firefighter with the Munhall No. 4 Fire Company with over 50 years of service, and a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club.
