John Christ Reimers Jr.
John Christ Reimers Jr., 92, of Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Monday at VNA Hospice Care, Technology Drive.
Mr. Reimers was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, on July 10, 1921, to John Christ Reimers and Mary Catherine Wolf Reimers.
He married Edna L. Kohlmeyer on March 15, 1946.
He retired from Kelly Chevrolet & Cadillac in Butler, where he worked from 1947 until 1983.
He was a longtime member of the Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and going to camp with his sons.
Survivors include his wife, Edna L. Reimers of Slippery Rock; his two sons, John E. and his wife, Gladys L., Reimers of Edinburg, Pa., and David C. and his wife, Loretta J. Reimers, of Grove City; his daughter, Kathy A. Cratty of Slippery Rock; his sister, Ruth Shawgo of Grove City; his seven grandchildren, Jeffery (Piper) Cratty of New London, Pa., David B. Reimers of Butler, Colleen (Kevin) Withers of Slippery Rock, Steven (Melissa) Cratty of Johnstown, Pa., John (Jane) Reimers of West Middlesex, Pa., Scott (Stacey) Reimers of West Middlesex, Pa., and James (Christi) Cratty of Grove City, and his stepgrandson, TJ Martin of Lawton, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Donald Cratty; his two sisters, Dorothy Morris and Mary Anderson, and his stepgranddaughter, Marcy Jo Dallas.
REIMERS — The family of John Christ Reimers Jr., who passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Friday.The funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Donna Yonosy of the Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Clintonville M.E. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to VNA Hospice, Butler.
