Gregg Arthur Neel Sr., 72, of Cabot passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born Dec. 12, 1939, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Paul V. and Helen V. (Smith) Neel.

Gregg worked at J.L. Steel and at Wetterau. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church for 35 years.

Gregg, also known as “Pa,” was a loving father and grandfather. He loved to spend time with the love of his life of 48 blessed years, Lavon (Thompson) Neel. Gregg loved to sit and tell stories of his childhood and just be with his family and laugh.

Surviving are his loving wife, Lavon Thompson Neel, who he married Dec. 7, 1963; two sons, Gregg Neel Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Ohio and Dave Neel and his wife, Valerie, of Cabot; three daughters, Tammy Neel, Diane Wright and Susan Robertson and her husband, Bob, all of Cabot; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.
