John Solema

John “Pat” Francis Solema, 83, of Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City, passed away at Grove Manor on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021.

He was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Pittsburgh, to John Patrick Solema and Leona Marie O'Connor Solema.

He married Norma Ann Wolff, who preceded him in death 18 years ago.

John retired from Westinghouse, where he worked as a draftsman.

He loved his dogs, enjoyed running, and participated in a number of marathons. He was a holy eucharistic minister at Holy Sepulcher in Valencia.

Survivors include a son, Tim (Dolores) Solema of Wintersville, Ohio; and five daughters, Tricia (John) Gallagher of Overland Park, Kan., Kathy (Mike) Olson of Canfield, Ohio, Terry (Bill) Woods of Stafford, Va., Chris (Rob) Papp of Slippery Rock, and Colleen (Keith) Karas of Port Matilda, Pa.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Grove Manor. The care and attention John received for the past 3½ years was beyond phenomenal. We are forever grateful.

SOLEMA — The family of John “Pat” Francis Solema, who died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Beloved Disciple, Grove City.

Interment will be in Holy Savior Cemetery, 4629 Bakerstown Road, Gibsonia.
