Louis A. Verba, 81, of Zelienople passed away Tuesday at Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople.

Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret Ban Verba.

Mr. Verba was a life member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople, and life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran and a member of the Hungarian Club and Zelienople-Harmony Sportsmans Club.

Mr. Verba enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and watching his grandsons at their sporting events. He was a longtime coach for the Zelienople-Harmony Athletic Association and was an avid Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. Mr. Verba worked as a foreman at Hallstead Industries for 20 years and retired from Bilco Manufacturing in 1980.

Mr. Verba is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis E. and Susan Verba and Jon A. and Christine Verba, both of Zelienople; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura J. and David C. Zinkhann of Chippewa; five grandsons, Seth and Nathan Verba and Jeremiah, Ian and Andrew “Drew” Verba; and four great-granddaughters, Alexis and Caitlyn Verba, Lillian Verba and Cadence Verba.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca J. Stewart Verba, who died April 15, 2005; two brothers, Eugene and Joseph Sarko; and a sister, Catherine “Kay” Borgia.

<B>VERBA </B>— Friends of Louis A. Verba, who passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W.
