Tom Geibel

Thomas J. Geibel, 88, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Clearfield Township, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Anna F. Geibel Geibel.

He retired from Borden Dairy in December 1997 following 11 years of service. Previously, he had driven a tractor trailer for wholesale milk delivery to stores in the Ohio area and also worked for Sealtest Dairy in Butler and Pittsburgh.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. He was also a member of the Happy Hunters Sportsmen's Club in Fenelton and the Alamo Square Dance Club in the Frogtown Wildlife Club, Chicora.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed archery hunting, square dancing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Martha M. Fennell Geibel, who he married on Feb. 27, 1947; his daughter, Sally Ann (Richard) Walker of Butler; his two sons, Thomas E. (Pamela) Geibel and Ronald J. (Connie) Geibel, both of Butler; his eight grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Cyril “Pete” (Darlene) Geibel of Butler; his two sisters, Sylvia Marie Kildoo of Butler and Norma M. (Ralden “Bud”) O'Donnell of Chicora; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Hilliard.

Geibel — The friends of Thomas J. Geibel, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at theGeibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.The St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
