Knoch swimming’s Adrian Lavorini glides in win vs Slippery Rock; Moniteau girls basketball wins: Roundup
Adrian Lavorini placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.49) and 500 freestyle (5:03.92) as Knoch’s boys swimming team downed Slippery Rock 105-39 Tuesday night.
The Rockets’ Roan Stauffer (50 free, 100 backstroke) was a double winner, as well.
Knoch (girls) 81, Slippery Rock 78 — Olivia Walewski (500 free, 100 back) and Julie Hoehn (50 free) both won individual races for the victorious Knights.
Slippery Rock’s Gianna Savannah (200 free, 100 butterfly) and Avery Grossman (200 individual medley, 100 breast) each won a pair of events for the Rockets in their loss.
Freeport (boys) 68, East Allegheny 57; Freeport (girls) 82, East Allegheny 35 — No further details were available for the Yellowjackets’ wins.
Jason Frederick had a team-high 24 points, while Brandon Pickett (20), Jake Olkowski (18) and Jude Rottman (18) added double-digit efforts of their own as North Catholic downed Bishop Canevin 96-63.
The Trojans move to 3-0 and play Ohio’s Archbishop Hoban at home Friday.
Mars 63, Latrobe 59 — Austen Wroblewski poured in a game-best 23 points for the Planets (2-1). Mars sqaures off with Blackhawk on the road Friday.
South Fayette 27, Seneca Valley 26 (OT) — Owen Congdon led the Raiders (2-1) with seven points in this defensive battle. Seneca Valley limited the Lions (1-3) to 11 points in the first half, but were held to just one bucket in the third frame and overtime.
Redbank Valley 50, Karns City 47 — Cole Johnston netted 22 points for the Gremlins, including an 8-for-8 effort from the free-throw line.
Oil City 68, Slippery Rock 40 — Luke Caldwell paced the Rockets with 11 points.
Charlotte Thompson (14 points), Emily Matz (11) and Sayge Brunst (10) all scored in double-digits as Moniteau beat Grove City 54-39.
Thompson added 11 rebounds to secure a double-double, while Matz had seven rebounds and seven steals.
Clarion-Limestone 57, Union/A-C Valley 26 — Emma Kifer had 10 points for the Falcon Knights, who scored 11 in the initial half.
