Butler man charged with DUI, fleeing after crash in Franklin Township
A Butler man was charged with fleeing a hit-and-run crash in Franklin Township, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Jeremy Daniel McCauley, 36, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of accident involving damage and drug paraphernalia possession and three misdemeanor DUI counts following a two-vehicle crash earlier that day.
Police were dispatched at 12:57 a.m. for the crash at the intersection of New Castle and Eagle Mill roads. A man and woman at the scene told police a vehicle had struck their vehicle before leaving the scene, according to an affidavit.
The man told police that the vehicle that fled had been traveling west in the eastbound lane when it struck their vehicle on the right side.
Police said they found marks on the road near McCauley’s residence and found his vehicle in the driveway with heavy front-end damage. Police said McCauley reportedly admitted to crashing and had an empty stamp bag in his pocket.
McCauley’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 14 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
