CHICORA — A 13-year-old girl apparently was mistaken when she reported a man Monday afternoon tried to lure her into a van at a church parking lot in the borough, state police said.

The girl was walking near Missionary Alliance Church on East Slippery Rock Road about 5 p.m. when the driver of a van stopped because a sliding door had come ajar, police said.

A passenger in the van got out to fix the door. Police said the girl apparently got scared and ran for help.

Investigators determined there was no foul play and the case was closed, according to a police statement released Tuesday.
