Exhibit features paintings of Slippery Rock Creek
BUTLER TOWNSHIP — "Spirituality of Rock," painting and sculpture by artist Doug Wynn, continues through April 3 in the Mary Hulton Phillips Art Gallery located off the Succop Theater lobby at Butler County Community College.
Crediting his artistic growth to his father and influential instructors in high school and at the Carnegie Museum, Wynn majored in painting at Edinboro (Pa.) University after serving in the Navy.
The Aliquippa resident has exhibited in numerous regional art shows including those at the Westmoreland Museum of Art and the International Gallery in Sewickley. He has received several awards for his work.
Wynn paints a broad range of subjects, most recently local landscapes in the form of oil paintings on canvas.
The "Spirituality of Rock" exhibit features recent paintings of Slippery Rock Creek at McConnells Mill, painted in plein air and carved wood sculpture.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to 2 p.m. Fridays. The gallery is also open during the evening when there are performances in the Succop Theater. Visit the Web site www.bc3.edu/theater for a list of performance dates and times.
