North Catholic tops Seneca Valley; Karns City boys win: Roundup

North Catholic girls basketball’s 53-43 win over Seneca Valley on Thursday featured 19 points, including four treys, from Brady Wehner, and a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds from Lauren Reitz.

Sam Weir and Harmony Jones both added 10 points for the Trojanettes.

Natalie Hambly tallied 17 points and Reece McFadden 13 for the Raiders.

Kennedy Catholic 54, Slippery Rock 51 — Starring in defeat for the Rockets was Madison Romanovich with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists, though she left the game in the third quarter with a calf injury.

Brielle Jordan added 13 points and five rebounds in the loss, and Gia Kovacik eight points, five rebounds and three assists.

Bella Magestro and Tori Harvey combined to score 48 points for Kennedy Catholic.

Boys basketball

Cole Johnston netted 15 points and Xavier Bartoe scored 13 to lead Karns City to a 53-44 victory over Brockway in a game played at Union High School in Rimersburg.

Bartoe drained four treys and Bryce Galan three for the Gremlins, who led 34-19 at halftime.

Mars 77, Perry 27 — Austen Wroblewski dropped 20 points in this blowout win for the Planets.

Union 48, Curwensville 40 — Trent Fleming scored 12 points and Andrew Kifer 10 for the Golden Knights in this victory.

Bowling

Kylie McConahy’s 634 series led Freeport’s girls to a 7-0 sweep of Deer Lakes.

Her night included games of 224 and 211 while teammate Hannah Windows rolled a single of 235.

The Yellowjackets boys were swept by the Lancers. Christian Como bowled a 254 single and 633 series in the loss.

Swimming

Freeport earned wins in both meets against Valley, the girls winning 101-49 and the boys 74-69. No other details were available.
