South College enrolls 20,000 students as rapid expansion continues
South College has cleared 20,000 enrolled students nationwide, marking a major milestone for an institution that continues to expand its campus footprint and academic offerings.
The private college now operates 10 physical campuses, including one in Cranberry Township, in addition to extensive online and competency-based education programs. Recent additions in Dallas, Texas, and Marietta, Ga., helped fuel the surge in enrollment.
“We’ve seen substantial growth as more students across the nation seek to advance their professional skills and opportunities,” Chancellor Steve South said in a news release Monday, Dec 1. “This milestone is a significant accomplishment and reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff at every campus, our students, who put their trust in us, and our graduates, who are giving back to communities all over the country.”
South College’s physical campuses also include Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn.; Asheville, N.C.; Atlanta.; Indianapolis; and Orlando, Fla.
The institution reported its strongest demand is in nursing, a field available at all campuses and online.
The college now offers more than 100 programs in fields including business, criminal justice, education, health sciences and technology, with credentials ranging from professional certificates to doctoral degrees.
To keep pace with the growth, South College’s workforce has expanded to more than 3,000 employees nationwide.
South said the milestone underscores the college’s mission of aligning academic programs with workforce needs.
“While we celebrate the milestone, it also reminds us to keep striving to be a leader in higher education and prepare for opportunities and challenges still to come,” he said.
The college recently launched its “LIVE From South College” podcast, which features program spotlights, interviews and on-site reports from campuses. Episodes are available on the college’s website and on all major podcast platforms.
