Mars girls basketball outscored host Franklin Regional by 10 points in the first half and went on to post a season-opening 46-32 victory over the Panthers on Monday.

The Planets received 13 points from Alexis Cashdollar and 10 from Cecilia Christy.

Mars travels to Bethel Park on Friday.

Mercer 49, Moniteau 37 — Charlotte Thompson netted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but the Warriors (0-2) dropped this game at home.

Alyssa Thompson added 12 points in defeat, and Emily Matz seven rebounds.

Anna Allen and Emily Blough both scored 11 points to lead the Mustangs.
