Edith A. Huntsman
Edith A. Huntsman, 93, of Cabot, passed away Sept. 25, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Lower Burrell, and was the daughter of the late George Charles Armitage Sr. and the late Beulah Pauline Hidinger Armitage.
Edith had been residing at Concordia in Cabot, for the last 22 months. She spent her early childhood in Sigel, Pa., where her father was a foreman for the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp located in the area.
Edith graduated from Arnold High School in 1945. She was accepted as an early cadet nursing student at Butler Memorial Hospital in January of 1945, due to the severe need for nurses in World War II. She graduated in 1947.
Edith went on to have a long career in nursing, spending most of her career in the pediatrics department at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Edith was a charter member of Faith United Presbyterian Church.
Edith is survived by her son, Randall A. (Suzanna) Huntsman of Butler; two daughters, Deborah S. (David) Neff of Chicora and Kathleen L. (Wesley) Piersol of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jason (Marisa) Huntsman, Eric (Tara) Huntsman, Coryn Neff, Adam (Molly) Neff and Brandon Neff; and four great-grandchildren, John Huntsman, twins, Cullen and Declan Huntsman, and Tessa Neff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Huntsman Jr., whom she married on Jan. 28, 1948, and who passed away March 21, 1988; and one brother, George Armitage Jr.
HUNTSMAN — Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation for Edith A. Huntsman, who died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
