Roy K. Conner
Roy K. Conner, 74, of Sligo passed away Wednesday evening at Clarion Hospital following an extended illness.
Born on Nov. 18, 1940, in Sandy Hollow, Rimersburg, he was the son of the late Byron and Dorothy Keefer Conner.
He was a Protestant.
He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1966 with the rank of specialist 4th class.
He is survived by Eilene Say, his longtime special companion for nearly 25 years.
Roy was a steelworker at Pullman Standard in Butler for nearly 20 years before the plant closed.
He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a guitar player and singer in the country music band Plain Country. The group performed for numerous years at various functions including reunions, benefits and nursing homes.
In addition to his special companion, Roy is survived by his three daughters, Cindy (Larry) McCamant of Crates, Tammy (Joe) Rottman of Parker and Tina (Tom) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn; his two sons, Timothy (Shawna) Conner of Petrolia and Travis (Cindy) Conner of Bruin; his sister, Shirley (Stan) Platt of Alaska, and his brother, Galen (Connie) Conner of Clarion.
He also is survived by his 12 grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren, and his numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Beverly and Dolores Conner, and his three brothers, Orville, Ronald and Gerald Conner.
Conner— Friends of Roy K. Conner, who died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201. S. Wayne Ave., Parker. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
