Butler woman charged in 4 cases in 2 days

2 cases involve communications with 911, 2 involve a stolen vehicle

Police said a Butler woman was charged after she stole a car in Center Township and later crashed in Cranberry Township while driving under the influence.

Susan Hunter Fleming, 50, was charged in Cranberry Township with felony receiving stolen property and two misdemeanor DUI counts, and in Center Township with felony theft and misdemeanor unlawful vehicle use following the Wednesday, Nov. 19, incidents.

State police said they responded Wednesday to a report of a stolen vehicle from Mont Road in Center Township. The stolen vehicle was a red 2002 Ford Thunderbird.

About an hour later, Cranberry Township police said they had conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of Route 19 and North Boundary Road. The vehicle stopped at the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Police said Fleming showed signs of impairment, and empty alcoholic beverages were found on the floor of the vehicle. Police said Fleming had a blood alcohol content of 0.233%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.

The same day, Fleming was charged with misdemeanor communications with emergency services. Police said over about five hours, Fleming contacted the Butler state police barracks nine times without an emergency.

The day before, she was charged again with one misdemeanor count each of communications with 911 and disorderly conduct. Police said Fleming contacted Butler state police barracks 12 times without an emergency over a seven-hour period.

Fleming has preliminary hearings scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, before District Judge Lewis Stoughton, 10 a.m. Dec. 5 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty and two scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 6 before Stoughton. She’s currently being held in Butler County Prison.
