SRU football’s Jordan bestowed with PSAC honor, Butler grad earns top PAC award: College roundup

Slippery Rock University running back JayJay Jordan earned the PSAC’s Offensive Athlete of the Year on Wednesday afternoon.

Jordan led the PSAC with 1,375 rushing yards this season and was also tapped as an All-PSAC West first-teamer. Joining him on that squad are offensive tackle Joe Cooper, guard Luke Pugliese and defensive back Kanye Thompson.

Rock guard Eli Podgorski, defensive lineman Trever Valenti, linebackers Tyler Cain and Teddy Gregory and defensive back Michael Henwood were selected as second-teamers.

Jordan was also named the PSAC Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Week after rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns in an overtime road loss at Bloomsburg.

Stevenson named PAC offensive standout

Grove City College junior midfielder and Butler graduate Tori Stevenson was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference’s Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year after netting 16 goals, including 14 in the 11-match league slate.

Grove City won the PAC championship this season and lost to Illinois Tech in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

County products land on honor roll

St. Vincent senior forward and Butler graduate Makenna Maier was tapped for the PAC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll. Allegheny senior guard and Knoch product Ryan Lang was awarded the same honor on the men’s side after averaging 21.5 points in two contests.

St. Vincent freshman guard and Mars graduate Carmella McDole was named to the PAC Women’s Basketball Newcomer Honor Roll. Geneva freshman swingman Tayt Lucas (Butler) and Grove City freshman forward Josh Book (Slippery Rock) were chosen for the same team on the other side.

Grove City College freshman swimmer Mollie Massella was picked as the PAC Women’s Newcomer of the Week after sweeping the butterfly against Wooster.
