Board hopes to hire in March

BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board Administrative Search Committee will begin sorting through superintendent, assistant superintendent and business manager applications this week with the hopes of hiring a superintendent next month.

Superintendent Mike Strutt said Monday night that the district received five applications for superintendent, 13 applications for assistant superintendent, and 5 applications for business manager.

Strutt declined to give further details, citing confidentiality of the candidates.

The application deadline for all three positions was Friday.

School board members Al Vavro, David Korn and John Conrad are on the search committee. They will begin going through the superintendent applications this week, with the intent of starting interviews next week.

Members of the Community Advisory Committee, who were selected by board members to help ask questions during the final superintendent interviews, will meet March 3.

Strutt, along with Carolyn Cornish, assistant superintendent, and Cathy Rodgers, business manager, will retire on June 30.

The board wants to hire a superintendent first, and then have that person involved in the hiring of the assistant superintendent and the business manager.
