Frederick Allen VanWy

Frederick Allen VanWy

Frederick Allen VanWy, 65, of Butler passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at his home.

Born in Butler on Sept. 20, 1948, he was the son of the late Jess Freman and Jean Carolyn Stubenbordt VanWy.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Fred served in Vietnam as a heavy vehicle operator from 1969 to 1970, earning the Army Commendation Medal for Merit.

Fred traveled many paths along the way from farmer to soldier, to mechanic, timber man, and tractor-trailer driver.

He was a fan of country music and western movies, and was a clever hand at welding, woodworking, remodeling, gardening, cooking, playing guitar, and singing a song.

Fred had a lot of fun at home in the basement with friends making music and in the garage shooting the breeze.

After a long illness he is now one, mind and soul.

Fred is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and his sister Pearl Wick of Ohio.
