Mary J. Rex

Mary J. Rex, 87, formerly of Bonniebrook Road, Butler, died unexpectedly Sunday in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Butler, a daughter of the late Frank R. and Lillie M. Baldauf Maffei.

Mary was the retired business office manager for the Sprint Telephone Co. in Butler. She and her husband, Paul Rex, both retired on the same day in December 1985.

Mrs. Rex was a past president of the Junior Auxiliary of VFW Post 249 in Butler. She also was a life member of the Independent Telephone Association and the Bunova Club.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

Mary's husband, Paul F. Rex, whom she married Nov. 25, 1944, survives her. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Maffei Sr. and Francis Maffei.

<B>REX </B>— At the request of Mary J. Rex, who died Sunday, June 27, 2010, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
