Norman E. Sasse
Norman E. Sasse, 91, of Sandy Lake, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at St. Paul's in Greenville with his family by his side.
Norman was born April 17, 1930, in Sarver, and was the son of the late Otto H. and Nancy Rae (Sublett) Sasse.
At 14 years old, Norman started working at a lumber mill making mine posts for underground deep mines and strip mines for Testa Brothers Coal Co. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in 1953.After his military service, he went on to work for Cooper-Bessemer and Westinghouse, where he retired from in 1984. He also worked for Adobe Coal Co. and Sandy Lake and Stoneboro Borough maintenance departments for several years, and retired again in 2015 from the Sandy Lake Sewage and Treatment Plant.Not only was Norman a hard worker, he was always there for his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always in attendance for their sporting events, never missing a game for over 40 years. He was a loving father and grandfather, who will be deeply missed by his family.Norman is survived by his children, Norman C. (Karen) Sasse of Tucson, Ariz., Ronald H. (Carla) Sasse of Sandy Lake, Frederick M. (Robin) Sasse of Sandy Lake, Bonnie J. Sasse of Sandy Lake, and Helen F. (Jimmy) Arbogast of Sandy Lake; his grandchildren, Morgan Sasse, Kelly Corbin, Chelsea Cosgrove, Jazmyne Shaffer, Jaeda Sasse, Kyle Arbogast and Alexa Arbogast; his great-grandchildren, Hunter Corbin and Aubree Corbin; his siblings, Nancy Polkey, Charles (Jean) Sasse of Great Belt, Pa., and Jay (Sue) Sasse of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Sasse, Waneda Weitzel, Jean Hunter, Oscar Sasse, John Sasse and Francis Sasse.SASSE — Family and friends of Norman E.
