Police: Butler man inappropriately touched boy, 7, girl, 8
A Butler man is charged with aggravated indecent assault against a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl.
Adam Blake McCandless-Levin, 37, formerly of California, was charged Wednesday, Oct. 29, with one felony count each of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 and misdemeanor child endangerment following an investigation as a result of a ChildLine report filed Oct. 15, 2024.
Police said the ChildLine report accused McCandless-Levin of inappropriately touching a 7-year-old boy’s genitals with his mouth while the child was bathing. UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh examined the boy in the early morning hours of Oct. 14, 2024, and noted bruising on the child’s genitals.
The child was interviewed Oct. 18, 2024, at Children’s Advocacy Center in Butler, police said. The child reportedly told interviewers McCandless-Levin touched the his genitals with his mouth and hands and would not stop when told. The child added McCandless-Levin also inappropriately touched his butt.
According to police, similar acts occurred more than once, but the child came forward because it hurt. McCandless-Levin had previously told the child not to tell, police said.
In a separate interview, the boy’s 8-year-old sister also alleged McCandless-Levin inappropriately touched her butt.
Police later went to a residence McCandless-Levin was associated with and said they were met with McCandless-Levin handing them his lawyer’s card. He declined to speak with them at that time, police said.
Police secured a search warrant for McCandless-Levin’s DNA on Oct. 28, 2025, after state police’s forensic division analyzed evidence related to the case and found a mixture of DNA from two separate individuals. According to police, McCandless-Levin was arrested the next day.
McCandless-Levin’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 17 before District Judge William Fullerton.
