The Rev. Frank O. Blackwell Sr.
The Rev. Frank O. Blackwell Sr., 86, of Wooster, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday at the Life Care Hospice in Wooster, following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Lowellville, Ohio, to Joseph B. and Julia Shifflet Blackwell.
He married Audrey L. Barnhart in 1949, in Hubbard, Ohio. She survives.
In his earlier years, he worked with his father building homes and throughout the years had pastored in numerous churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and the New York areas. He also loved to fish.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Sandra (Bill) Ewing of Indian Land, S.C., Frank (LuAnne) Blackwell Jr., of Tioga Center, N.Y., Joyce (Wes) Speicher of Wooster, Ohio, and David Blackwell of Butler; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Smotrila, of Columbiana, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mazie Sprankle; and his brother, Charles Blackwell.
BLACKWELL — Visitation for the Rev. Frank O. Blackwell Sr., who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday followed by services at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Lowellville, Ohio, with the Rev. Aaron Lundquist, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Lowellville Cemetery.
