Lyric Ackelson places near top at Pa. pageant
Lyric Beth Ackelson, the current Miss Butler County, placed in the top 11 out of 40 contestants in last week’s Miss Pennsylvania/America Pageant at Shady Side Academy in Sewickley.
She was also won the Miss America Serves Children’s Miracle Network Award for raising the most money of all the contestants for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Ackelson, the daughter of Beth and Mike Ackelson of Butler, competed in interview, talent, evening gown and swimsuit competitions.
Lyric was crowned Miss Butler County in March, the same title won by her mother, then Beth Taylor, in 1988.
Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America, Elektra Davis, placed in the top 10 out of 28 contestants in Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen Pageant.
She is the daughter of Howard and Marian Davis of Harmony.
