LOCK HAVEN— A win is a win, but Slippery Rock University football coach George Mihalik isn't crazy about the style points.

In the first half, Nate Crookshank threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns while Corey Manfull rushed for 111 yards as The Rock beat Lock Haven 27-11 Thursday night at Hubert Jack Stadium.

SRU (8-2, 3-2) compiled 528 offensive yards, including 318 on the ground.

"The productivity was there, and that's always a good thing,"Mihalik said. "But I'm disappointed that we didn't finish things off tonight. We should have put another two or three touchdowns on the board easily."

Besides its touchdown drives of 81, 69, 90 and 59 yards, SRUventured into Lock Haven territory on six other possessions and came up empty.

Crookshank threw interceptions to stop two threats. The Rock also turned the ball over on downs twice, punted once and C.J. Bahr was wide left on a 25-yard field goal attempt.

Bahr also missed a PAT and SRU's special teams allowed a 72-yard kickoff return to Kyle Crane to set up a Bald Eagle field goal.

"At times, we lacked focus, lost concentration, and that's unacceptable,"Mihalik said. "We're a better team than that."

Crookshank threw touchdown passes of 22 yards to Josh Prigorac, 43 yards to Paul Favers and 4 yards to Frank Cremonese as The Rock took a 20-0 lead into halftime.

SRUgenerated 18 first downs in the first half to Lock Haven's four and outgained the Bald Eagles (0-10, 0-5) in yardage 348-56.

"It was getting frustrated, not finishing drives off,"Crookshank admitted. "I don't know if it was our personnel changes, guys unsure of who was in the game or what.

"It's definitely lapses in concentration and we have to change that."

Defensive end Corey Lacek returned to SRU's starting lineup after battling a nagging groin injury the past few weeks. He had two sacks in the first half and hit quarterback Ilio DiPaolo as he was releasing the ball on a fourth-and-8 play from The Rock 42, forcing an incompletion.

"It feels good to be back,"Lacek said. "I feel like I'm 100 percent now. I've got my speed and my stamina back."

Manfull did not play in the second half. Fellow running back Damarcus Cleckley did not play in the first half, but amassed 15 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown during the final two quarters.

Lock Haven trailed 27-3 before Ibrahim Smith capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive with a 9-yard scoring run with 48 seconds remaining. The Bald Eagles recovered an onside kick, but could not score again.

"I'm proud of the way our guys never quit,"Lock Haven coach John Klacik said. "Losing 20-0 at halftime after giving up 700-plus yards against Shippensburg the week before, we could have cashed it in.

"These guys kept playing hard. I'm optimistic about the future of this program."

Mihalik is optimistic about his team's immediate future.

"I stand by what I said earlier. ... If we win next week, we deserve a national playoff bid,"the coach said.

SRU closes the regular season at Edinboro (6-3) on Nov. 10.
