SNAP benefits to go unpaid due to government shutdown
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for November and onward are not expected to be paid out on time, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services announced.
According to the announcement, the funding freeze began Thursday, Oct. 16.
The announcement said benefits will not be paid until the federal government shutdown ends and funds are released to the state.
The department reminded recipients they are still responsible for completing renewals and reporting changes to income, contact information or residency during the shutdown.
Federally-mandated changes will take effect Nov. 1, so recipients should remember to report their work, school or volunteer participation to the department, it said.
