Dobrancin

Frances A. Dobrancin, 91, of East Brady died Saturday at her home.

Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Homestead, she was the daughter of John and Virginia (Mundel) Lewis.

She was the wife of the late Michael J. Dobrancin, who she married Feb. 13, 1941.

She was actively involved in businesses in the East Brady area. She and her husband owned the Travelers Restaurant on Main Street and then the Travelers Hotel, which became famous for its then innovative salad bar. It displayed many historical pictures and antiques and was a favorite meeting place for important events in southern Clarion County until a fire destroyed it in 1978.

She also assisted her husband, who in 1969 pioneered the television cable business in this area by establishing the Do-Bran-Cin Cable Vision Co., which is now Armstrong Cable.

A 1937 graduate of East Brady High School, she was a fashionable lady who loved scarves and hats.

She enjoyed her trips to the casino. Throughout her life, she enjoyed helping others.

Frances was active in civic affairs in the community. She was appointed chairwoman of the East Brady Planning Commission, was the Ways and Means chairwoman of the Jones-Conner American Legion Post in East Brady and the American Legion Auxiliary in the East Brady area. She volunteered at ACMH Hospital, working in the snack bar.

She was a member of the Bradys Bend Historical Society and was an active member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady. She was president of the ladies guild and church council as well as a church lector, Eucharistic minister and CCD instructor. She was instrumental in the organization of the 100th anniversary of the St. Eusebius Parish.

Surviving are a son, James E. Dobrancin of Kaunakakai, Hawaii; a daughter, Michele B. George and her husband, James A., of East Brady; five grandchildren, Michael, Michele, Jaslyn, Lesanna and Dorissa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Michael, who died March 27, 2006; a daughter, Frances; two brothers, Henry and Edward Lewis; and a sister, Virginia Stevens.

<B>DOBRANCIN</B> — Friends of Frances A. Dobrancin, who died Saturday, June 12, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B>, 105 Fourth St. East Brady. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady, with the Rev. William Kuba, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Eusebius Cemetery, Brady Township, Clarion County.A parish prayer service will be held at 3:30 Tuesday in the funeral home.The family suggests memorials be sent to HAVIN, P.O.
