CMU tops Grove City

Junior tailback Matt Weil tallied 104 yards on 15 carries, but the Grove City College football team lost at home to Carnegie Mellon, 28-0, Saturday.

Sophomore safety Shane Coughlin led the Wolverines (0-1) with 11 tackles, and cornerback Chris Schwamberger managed 10.

Women's SoccerDanielle Cooper scored a goal and had one assist, and teammate Meghan McGrath added two assists as Slippery Rock University defeated California (Pa.) University 4-1.Also scoring for The Rock were Alexis Chiani, Shelly Regner and Nici Spamer.

Women's VolleyballSara Kirsch's 148 assists, 11 service aces, 34 digs and seven kills sparked Slippery Rock University to a 3-1 record at the Dutch Country Spiketacular at Millersville University.All three of The Rock's wins came on 3-0 sweeps of C.W. Post, Adelphi and Salem International.The loss was a 3-0 final to Dowling College.

Men's SoccerChris Graham scored SRU's lone goal in a 5-1 loss to Dowling College.Rock goalkeeper Brandon McQuillen managed a season-high 10 saves.

Women's Field HockeySRU goalie Tara Bailey made 12 saves, but The Rock fell to East Stroudsburg, 7-0.SRU is 4-1 and remains in first place in the conference standings.

Men's RugbySlippery Rock University shut out rival Clarion by a score of 66-0 over the weekend.No other details were provided.
