Butler police are investigating the apparent drug overdose death of a 27-year-old man.

Mitchell P. Kaiser was found dead Wednesday afternoon on the bed of his third-floor apartment in the former Emory's Taxidermy building on Wilson Avenue, authorities said.

A friend, a 32-year-old Butler woman, called 911 around 4:30 p.m. to report the victim was unconscious and breathing.

Officers turned up hypodermic needles and empty pill bottles in the apartment, police said.

Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr pronounced Kaiser dead about 6 p.m.
