2-vehicle Route 19 accident sends driver to hospital

A two-vehicle accident Tuesday on Route 19 left this Ford pickup truck on its driver's side. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital.

CRANBERRY TWP — A two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon left one person injured.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. on Route 19 at the intersection where North Boundary Road and Glen Eden Road meet.

A Ford 4x4 pickup truck and a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck collided, flipping the Ford on the driver’s side.

The driver of the Ford, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He suffered injuries to his head.

Cranberry Township Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said the driver’s injuries “didn’t seem to be that serious.”

The Ford had damage to its right front quarter panel as well as the driver side. Emergency personnel had to kick in the Ford’s windshield to rescue the driver.

The driver of the Dodge was not injured, but the truck had heavy damage.

Traffic was slowed on both sides of Route 19 as rescue personnel worked at the accident. Mascellino said the scene was cleared shortly after 5 p.m. Cranberry Township EMS assisted.
