The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has provided this report on the Aug. 27 Eighty Four Livestock Auction.

The Aug. 27 New Wilmington and the Aug. 28 Mercer livestock sales were not reported.

CATTLE — (Compared with last week's sale, slaughter cows were uneven, bulls were firm.) Steers — Choice 1-3, one, 1095 lbs., 86.50; select 1-2, few, 74.-76.; standard 1-2, one, 59.

Holstein steers — Steers — Select 1-2, one, 68.50; standard 1-2, one, 58.50.

Heifers — Select 1-2, 65.-77.

Cows — Breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 56.50-64.50; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 48.-56.; lean, 85-90 percent lean, 40.50-47. Shells 40. and down.

Bulls — Yield grade 1, 1025-2070 lbs., 63.-67.50; yield grade 2, two, 920 and 2245 lbs., 53. and 60.50.

Feeder cattle — Steers — Medium 1, 340-452 lbs., 115.-130.; medium and large 2, 272-353 lbs., 100.-123.; 502-777 lbs., 86.-109. Heifers — Medium and large 2, 205-488 lbs., 90.-110.; 515-700 lbs., 70.-101. Bulls — Medium 1, 272-440 lbs., 120.-132.50.; large 1, 473 lbs., 93.; medium and large 2, 185-235 lbs., 107.50-128.; 315-469 lbs., 88.-113.50; 510-760 lbs., 77.-103.

CALVES 131 — (Holstein bulls were 10. higher.)

Vealers — Standard and good, 75-110 lbs., 50.-70.; utility, 60-110 lbs., 10.-45.

Farm calves — No. 1, Holstein bulls, 90-120 lbs., 105.-120., few, 130.-140.; No. 2, 80-125 lbs., 80.-105. One, No. 1, Holstein heifer, 95 lbs., 650.; few, No. 2, 65-75 lbs., 110.-220. Beef cross bulls and heifers, 70-115 lbs., 70.-180.

HOGS 15

Sows — Few, 49-54 percent lean, 220-245 lbs., 50.; one, 40-45 percent lean, 195 lbs., 45.; one, 40-45 percent lean, 215 lbs., 36.

Boars — Two, 11.50 and 12.

FEEDER PIGS 0 — No market test.

SHEEP 130 — (Slaughter lambs were steady.)

Slaughter lambs — High choice and prime, 70-95 lbs., 98.-116.; choice, 55-75 lbs., 91.-117.; 81-95 lbs., 78.-98.; 100-140 lbs., 75.-85.; good and choice, 35-53 lbs., 40.-72.50.

Slaughter sheep — 18.-38. Few, yearlings, 57.-67.
