Butler Memorial Hospital will host the program "Look Good … Feel Better" from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 30 at the hospital.

The free program is open to women undergoing cancer treatment and is led by volunteer cosmetologists.

Participants will learn makeup techniques and how to use turbans, scarves and other accessories.

A breakfast honoring the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the YWCA at 120 W. Cunningham St.Sponsored by the Butler County Unity Project, A.A.U.W. and the YWCA of Butler, will feature keynote speakers Thomas Gaither, a biology professor at Slippery Rock University and Renay Scales, the assistant vice president of human resources and diversity at SRU.Gaither, who was involved with the Congress of Racial Equality in the 1960s, is the recipient of a Pacesetter Award for outstanding African-American leaders presented by Slippery Rock University.Scales is the recipient of a Barrier Breaker award from the University of North Texas and the Martin Luther King Civil Leadership Award at Slippery Rock University.Tickets are $5 each and are available at the YWCA.

The Butler Public Library will offer a 10-week session of preschool story time beginning Feb. 2.Open to children ages 3 to 6, the free sessions will include stories, finger plays, games and crafts.Session will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursdays for 3-year-olds, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursdays for children ages 4 to 6 and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays for children ages 3 to 6.For information or to register, call 724-287-1715, Ext. 717, send an e-mail to lcampbell@bcfls.org or visit the library at 218 N. PORTERSVILLE — An open house will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Portersville Christian School, 343 E. Portersville Road.Information will be available for parents seeking educational alternatives for their students.The school is open to students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. Transportation is available from the Butler, Seneca, Wilmington, Laurel, Shenango, Slippery Rock, Riverside and Ellwood school districts. HARRISVILLE — The Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department will host a square dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Jan. 21 at the fire hall on East Mercer Street.The dance will feature the band Country Tradition. The caller will be Bob Minor.Cost is $5 and refreshments will be available.
