SRU student accused of having marijuana mailed to campus

A Slippery Rock University student is accused of having marijuana sent to him through the campus mail system.

Aidan Michael McFadden, 19, of Audubon, Pa., was charged Thursday, Sept. 18, with one misdemeanor count each of marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a Sept. 15 incident.

Police said they received a call from an SRU employee for a package with a strong odor of marijuana. Police responded to the mail room and were shown the package in a soft brown bag.

Police said the package had both McFadden’s address and the sender’s name and address written on it and was send through the U.S. Postal Service.

Police contacted McFadden and met him at the mail room. Police said McFadden had been expecting a package from the sender and said the package contained two 1-gram THC vape cartridges and half an ounce of marijuana.

McFadden’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Oct. 29 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
