Mary Lorraine Watson
Mary Lorraine Watson, 88, of Slippery Rock, Worth Township, Butler County, passed away Friday at Jameson Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Plymouth, Mass., on Nov. 20, 1924, to Edgar Francis Merry and Ethel Bradford Bowe Merry.
She grew up in Hyde Park, Mass., and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1942. She married Donald Whitman Watson on Feb. 18, 1961, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2011.
As a young lady, Mrs. Watson had been a teller at the First National Bank of Boston. After her marriage, she became a homemaker. She was a member of Eastern Star Contentment Chapter, Dedham, Mass. She enjoyed photography and volunteer work.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine E. Fourney and her husband, David, of Gaithersburg, Md.; a son, David Whitman Watson of New Castle, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Jenna, Kimberly and Ian Fourney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George B. Merry.
WATSON — The family of Mary Lorraine Watson, who passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday.A memorial service will be observed at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday and will be conducted by the Rev. Dana L. Opp, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville.
