Burnick leads Rock CC

Crystal Burnick won her third consecutive race of the season to lead the 16th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the SRU Invitational Saturday at Cooper's Lake Campground.

Burnick won with a time of 22 minutes, 9 seconds, 18 seconds better than the runner-up finisher.

SRU finished in third place with a score of 85, trailing only Dickinson (23) and Elizabethtown (68).Brian Ulrich led The Rock with an eighth-place finish (26:06) on the 8K course.Travis Arrigoni finished 12th overall, Jason Leonard 20th, Alex Koksal 25th and Eric Geddis (Seneca Valley) 29th to round out the top five Rock finishers.

Anthony Paganie had a goal and assist and Jeremy Feehan and Patrick Conley also tallied goals in a 3-1 Rock (7-2-1) victory over Seton Hill Saturday.

Clarion University registered two goals late in regulation to help secure a 2-2 double overtime tie Saturday.The Rock (6-3-1, 4-3-1) outshot Clarion 15-4, including 3-0 in the two extra sessions.Ashley Paganie and Shelby Ward each scored for SRU with assists from Danielle Turner and Alison Hindley, respectively.

Skylar Brosse netted The Rock's lone goal in a 3-1 loss to No. 7 Bellarmine on Saturday.Bellarmine (9-0) is the sixth ranked team SRU (1-7) has faced this year.

Kaylee Smith had 14 kills and 12 digs, Kristin Slavoski added eight kills, Alee Kromer had 19 digs and Anna Bixler and Kim Wilson added 16 assists each, but SRU (6-10, 4-4) fell to Edinboro 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 18-25, 22-25) Saturday.
