House under construction catches fire in Jefferson Twp.
JEFFERSON TWP — Several local fire departments spent the afternoon Monday, Sept. 22, fighting flames at a house that was under construction on Heller Road.
Two alarms were sounded after a large house in the 200 block of Heller Road caught fire. Heavy smoke could be seen for over an hour from several acres away.
Butler Township, Herman, Middlesex and Saxonburg fire departments were among those that responded to the fire following a 1:30 p.m. call.
The structure was located away from the road along a dirt driveway, prompting firefighters to use multiple tankers of water to get it extinguished.
Firefighters on the scene did not immediately know the cause of the fire.
Traffic had to be redirected from both directions in order to make room for fire trucks.
