Susan C. Muttart
Susan C. Muttart, 56, a Christian, communicator, songwriter, pastor's wife, selfless giver of her time, treasure and talents for others, went to be with the Lord on Thursday from complications of the disease mesothelioma.
Susan served in many capacities at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, where her husband, Dan, serves as senior pastor. She sang in the choir, directed ensembles and hosted numerous events in her Allison Park home for new members, deacons, elders and staff. She also served on the board of the Lighthouse Foundation and volunteered actively with Fostercat.org.
In a professional capacity, she served as communications manager of Vocollect Inc. in Penn Hills, helping it publish its first e-book, of which she was most proud, and producing case studies, speaker's forums and numerous other communications projects.
Her husband, Dan, describes her as the most selfless, giving person he had ever met. They were married Oct. 9, 1982, at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary.
In addition to her dear husband, the Rev. Dan Muttart, Susan is survived by her brother, H. Grady Chambless of Colorado; a niece and nephew, Chris and Carrie Chambless; and countless friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
MUTTART — The family of Susan C. Muttart, who died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, will welcome friends from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at 5825 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, with the Rev. Jesse Alexander, the Rev. Karen Anderson and the Rev. Gary Weston co-officiating.
