WARRENDALE — For the past three years, funds from the annual Benefit Bash have been used to improve the quality of life for residents of the Passavant Memorial Homes.

This year, officials of the foundation supporting the Passavant Memorial Homes Family of Services want to raise $30,000 at the event, set from 1 to 5 p.m. April 29 at Jergel’s Rhythym Grille in Warrendale.

The foundation was created in 2001 to support Passavant Memorial Homes, which provide support for those living with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health needs. The goal is for participants to grow spiritually, socially, physically and emotionally as they are given a chance to make choices for themselves and gain independence.

The organization provides services to residents across the region, including in Butler County, and its headquarters is in Thorn Hill Industrial Park in Cranberry and Marshall townships.

Rick Senft, president and CEO of Passavant Memorial Homes, said the fundraiser also serves to connect the community with the organization.

“It’s a way to continuously connect with the community and provide optimum support,” he said.

The event will feature the band No Bad JuJu. Also planned is an appetizer and dessert bar, photo booth, auctions, raffles and a bean bag toss tournament.

Admission is $15 per person, and proceeds will be used to improve employee training facilities and to establish an electronic software platform to facilitate mandatory and enhanced training capabilities. This includes training for staff and additional support for clients’ needs.

According to Ashley Lovell, who is planning the event, these enhancements will ensure staff is equipped to continue to provide best practices and quality care.

“Individuals have different needs, and all of those can be tailored to the individual through these upgrades,” she said.
