NEW CASTLE, Lawrence County — The Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab senior center has a new administrator. Mark Nord was appointed to the position and will oversee the daily operations of the 204-bed facility, according to a company news release.

Quality Life Services of Butler bought the New Castle senior center in November. The parent company owns senior centers in six counties: Armstrong, Butler, Fayette, Lawrence, Mercer, and Westmoreland.

Golden Hill employs about 235 full and part-time workers.

The Butler County Health Care Consortium recently awarded seven $1,000 tuition awards to licensed practical nurses and registered nurses who work at facilities in the county.The funding was made available through the Tri-county Workforce Investment Board in Butler, which links work force and economic development in Butler, Armstrong and Indiana counties.

CRANBERRY TWP — The Philly Pretzel Factory franchise here, which opened in 2008, is expanding with a new store in Beaver County.Ken Hannigan, who is part owner, said he is pleased about the new location and to be a part of a growing company that offers healthy snack options. Hannigan said the Cranberry store twists 1,000 pretzels each day.
