The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is accepting nominations for the 2026 Trail of the Year award.

Nomination forms and supporting documentation must be submitted online by Oct. 31. Nomination information is available at the Pennsylvania Trail of the Year webpage.

The Trail of the Year is recognized in a news release and with a commemorative poster for statewide distribution. It also receives a trailhead marker along the trail. A grant for educational programs to promote safety and environmental protection is also issued in recognition.

The DCNR’s Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee selects the winning trail, which will be announced in early 2026.

The 2025 Trail of the Year is the Path of the Flood Trail in Cambria County.
