Schuey honored by PA NewsMedia Association
Butler Eagle publisher and general manager Tammy Schuey is one of five news industry professionals to be honored by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association.
Schuey was awarded the News Media Industry Emerging Leader of the Year Award for the impact she has made in Pennsylvania’s news media industry.
“I am very honored and surprised to be recognized as the inaugural Emerging Leader of the Year. (The year) 2024 was full of many challenges as well as opportunities, which I was happy to be a part of in my new role as publisher of the Eagle,” Schuey said. “I truly enjoy working with all our departments and will continue to build on the passion and dedication of our staff. I look forward to supporting our industry and serving our community in the years to come.”
Schuey started her career with the Butler Eagle when she was hired to train the company’s composition room on the then new Macintosh computer technology.
She now has been with the company for 34 years, and took over the role of publisher from Ron Vodenichar in September 2024.
A native of East Brady and graduate of Lenape Technical School, Schuey has lived her entire life in Western Pennsylvania; she currently resides in the Chicora area.
Schuey is proud of the team she has around her, who she said stepped up to the plate in a big way with its coverage of the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump during his July 2024 rally in Connoquenessing Township.
“It’s not just me, but the organization,” Schuey said. “I am honored that somebody would consider nominating me, and I’m thankful for the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association for awarding me with this great honor.”
