Shirley Ann Moore Evans
Shirley Ann Moore Evans, 73, of Butler, formerly of Bruin, passed away Thursday after a long illness at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with VNA Hospice Care.
She was born in Parker, July 7, 1938, the daughter of Creed Addison and Flora (Maxwell) Moore.
Shirley was raised in Bruin and attended Karns City High School, graduating in 1957. A Presbyterian, she was a very kind woman who loved God, her family and her friends with every ounce of her being. She was actively involved with United Cerebral Palsy in Butler and her many church activities, including Bible study groups, prior to her declining health. Despite her physical limitations as a result of cerebral palsy, she lovingly cared for her husband, Don, with compassion and kindness until his death in 1996. Shirley’s warm smile and generous spirit will live on in all of us, and she will be sadly missed.
She will be remembered fondly by her brother, Creed Leslie Moore and his wife, Violet, of Karns City; a nephew, Timothy L. Moore of Kittanning; three aunts, Bessie M. Byers of Petrolia, Margaret (Peg) Moore of Butler and Rose Moore of Karns City; an uncle, Joseph “Jud” Barger of Gretna, La.; three great nieces, Christine M. Nye and her husband, Justin, of Hermitage, Kayla J. Moore of Butler and Tabitha L. Moore of Kittanning; one great-great nephew, Aiden Nye of Hermitage; two great-great nieces, Kyra and Lily Nye of Hermitage; and numerous cousins and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband of 19 years, Donald M. Evans, who died Aug. 8, 1996.
