rue 21 kicks off initiative
WARRENDALE — Teen retailer rue 21 has launched a philanthropic initiative named rueGIVESback.
Warrendale-based rue 21 is the title sponsor of the Threads for Teens 2015 Tour, which gives new clothing to underprivileged teen girls and provides free workshops to build their self-esteem and confidence, the company said.
The summer tour will travel across the nation in a mobile boutique providing clothing and hosting conferences on goal setting and dressing for success. Employees will volunteer in each city to assist girls selecting the clothing.
This fall, rue 21 will continue its commitment to the Glimmer of Hope Foundation, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization funding the largest premenopausal breast cancer study in the nation. Each October, rue 21 makes a financial donation to Glimmer of Hope in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Employees also have the opportunity to volunteer and participate in charity events or to raise money for charities in their communities.
