Auto warranty scammers true enemy of people

You may have heard President Donald Trump make the charge against the media as being “the enemy of the people.”

While we can’t agree with the President of the United States that our brethren in the news business can or should be vilified in such a harsh term; we do believe we have focused in on someone who should be.

Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn’t call with the most concerned voice and tell us how worried they are that our vehicle will soon be out of warranty and we will suffer horribly from the debt we will bear trying to pay for the soon to be realized mechanical problems on the vehicle.

Yes, we have tried hitting “9” to be added to the do not call list. We have tried staying on the line and engaging the person who comes on to discuss our horrible fate with us and we have also tried explaining to them how much we loathe the industry they represent and the ridiculous number of times they call, even though they don’t know our name, what kind of car we own, or what year it may be.

Apparently, the scam is to get credit card information and use it to benefit the needy. It couldn’t be to steal or cheat us. We have numerous telemarketing blockers on our phone, some free and one paid. Yet the calls happen daily.

We are ready to give up on world peace and saving starving children around the world. The next generation of pageant contestants or electoral candidates should promise to rid the world of telemarketing schemes and in particular these ones about car warranties.

That would greatly enhance the possibilities of them winning a crown or a seat with lifetime government benefits. No one is safe from these calls and they don’t slow down during droughts or hurricanes. Who will come to our aid?

Maybe if we threatened to cancel car shows and high school sports until they rid the world of this “scam-demic,” the governor would take action.

The only other answer is to find a way to tax them or make extending all car warranties part of legalizing marijuana. Maybe that is the answer.
