Crews fight fire at multifamily home in Kittanning

The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania is providing help to multiple families after a fire at a multifamily home in downtown Kittanning on Tuesday morning.

The four-alarm structure fire was reported at 7:12 a.m. in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street, originating in the top floor of a multifamily structure. An Armstrong County dispatcher said about 20 fire stations, including companies from Armstrong and Butler counties, responded to the area, with residents asked to avoid South Jefferson Street while crews responded.

The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania said on X that its disaster action team, which provides food, clothing and emergency shelter, had provided help for seven individuals following the fire.

Several Butler County stations were dispatched throughout the morning, but most remained on standby, according to Butler County Emergency Services.
