Butler Township fire dept., Red Cross to install free smoke alarms at homes Sept. 27

As part of the American Red Cross’ “Sound the Alarm” awareness campaign, the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District will team up with the Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter to install free smoke alarms for local families.

Butler Township’s “Sound The Alarm” event will take place Sept. 27, with all volunteers gathering at 9 a.m. at the fire hall on Sparks Avenue for the “kickoff.” Volunteers will fan out and begin installing smoke alarms at homes until 1 p.m., and will also discuss fire safety with families.

Residents in need of a smoke alarm are encouraged to set up an appointment for an installation by calling 724-480-3170.
