Barry E. Gannon

Barry E. Gannon, 74, of Butler passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born July 1, 1944, in Slippery Rock, he was a son of the late Joseph and Alta McGarvey Gannon.

He retired from Friedman's Grocery Store as a manager following more than 30 years of service.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed the Pittsburgh sports teams, golfing and especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his three children, Gina (Robert) Rates of Smithfield, Pa., Barry (Beth) Gannon of Atlanta, Ga., and Brent (Melissa Beeman) of Butler; three grandchildren, Dalton and Sierra Rates and Brooks Gannon; two sisters, Beverly McCandless of Charlotte, N.C., and Nancy Merkle of Washington, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Werner Gannon, who died Dec. 4, 2017; and two brothers, Bruce and Richard Gannon.
